Anyone else get struck by sudden baking urges after seeing something amazing online? Like, you gotta drop everything and make it right now? Yeah, that’s me. So when I stumbled across these little nutty chocolate cookie treats on TikTok the other day, it was like a lightning bolt straight to my childhood.
They reminded me so much of “Mozaic Cake,” this Turkish dessert (also called chocolate salami) that I used to devour as a kid. It’s basically a log of crushed cookies, nuts, and chocolate, all held together with some kind of sticky goodness. Pure bliss.
I knew these TikTok treats wouldn’t be exactly the same, but the vibes were there: chocolate, crunchy bits, that melt-in-your-mouth texture… I had to try them. And guess what? No regrets. These little bites hit all the right notes!
Why You’ll Love These:
- Customizable: Swap out the hazelnuts for any nut or seed butter you like. Peanuts, almonds, cashews, pistachio… go wild!
- Nostalgia Trip: If you have fond memories of chocolate salami or similar treats, these will transport you right back.
- Quick & Easy: Seriously, they come together in a flash, especially if you have a small blender or food processor.
- Perfect Portions: Mini-batch means you can satisfy your craving without a ton of leftovers (though trust me, you’ll want them!).
Enjoy! These are perfect as a little after-lunch treat, a midday snack, or whenever you need a chocolate fix. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week (if they last that long!).
P.S. What are some of your favorite childhood treats? Share them in the comments below! Maybe they’ll inspire my next baking adventure.
Small-batch Chocolate Salami Bites
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup cookie crumbs (such as graham cracker crumbs or crushed lotus cookies) (40 g)
- 1/4 cup nuts/seeds (30 g) I used hazelnuts
- 2 tbsp nut/seed butter (32 g) I used chocolate hazelnut butter
- 2 tbsp any thick yogurt (30 g) I used greek-style yogurt, you can sub mashed banana
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder (6 g) increase if you need a darker treat
- pinch of salt
Chocolate coating
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips (60 g)
- 1-2 tsp oil
Instructions
- Crush your cookies and nuts until meal like in a ziplock bag, blender or using a pestle and mortar (my method).
- Add your nut butter, yogurt, pinch of salt and and mix to form a smooth dough.
- If too dry add a drop of water and mix again. Should be smooth and not too sticky, like cookie dough. If too wet, you can add a bit more cookie crumbs.
- Make small bites and shape however you like (if you want the true chocolate salami vibes shape the whole thing like a log using some parchment and slice). I shaped mine like mini candy bars. Freeze to set, at least 1 hour.
- Microwave together chocolate and coconut oil, 30 sec at a time and stir until all chocolate is melted.
- Using 1-2 forks dip each frozen piece in chocolate and set on a piece of parchment. Re-freeze or refrigerate to set the chocolate.
- Enjoy!
