I’m officially on this wagon full of internet foodies obsessed with this basic two-ingredient dough.
Whenever I crave anything, boom, I make it, with the exact same 2 ingredients (give or take)
- flour of some sort (gf all purpose totally works but my favorite is any kind of whole wheat)
- some yogurt (I haven’t tried this but I read that greek style dairy-free yogurt alternatives also do work, which I totally believe it).
And then you need some baking powder. I use 1 tsp baking powder per 1 cup flour and this simple trick has yet to disappoint me.
If you’re like me and you’d SO MUCH rather eat something quick and fresh than roll up your sleeves to CAREFULLY follow an intricate recipe with a bajillion PRECISELY measured ingredients. Well my friend. I’ve got the recipes for you.
And even though these don’t come close to my vegan buttermilk biscuits in texture or flavor, they’re fast, they’re easy to remember, and they’re FRESH.
Make it, eat it, that’s it. Please try it and LMK!
Small-batch Two-ingredient Dough Biscuits
Equipment
- Cookie sheet or similar
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour (120 g) gf all purpose if desired
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar (4 g)
- 1 cup thick greek style yogurt (224 g) df alternative if desired
- 1 tbsp semolina/regular flour for rolling (7 g)
- (optional) spices like thyme, rosemary, etc.
- (optional) grated cheese like cheddar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- In a medium/large bowl whisk together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder. Add any mix-ins like spices and cheese, if using.
- Gradually add yogurt (I add about 3/4 of it first) until a shaggy dough forms. You may not need all of the yogurt.
- Turn dough over on a floured surface, dust with flour. Hardly kneading the dough, shape it into a disk.Ā
- Cut whichever way you like, brush with milk or melted butter if you like, and bake 15 minutes.
- Let biscuits cool one minute and enjoy!!
