Someone posted this from Soho Juice Co. on r/veganfoodporn yesterday and asked to guess the price.
$23? mmm-kay. I made it for an estimated $3.

Btw, call me a skeptic but I put superfood in quotation marks because it’s the most annoying marketing gimmick.

I remember becoming disenchanted with the word superfood when I saw mulberries being touted as “THE NEW TURKISH SUPERFOOD” at one of those food markets and remembering how everyone used to step on them back in Turkey since they’re such a basic fruit 😅

Nothing against mulberries, they’re yummy, but like, if they’re a superfood then Turkish people better be super healthy! 😬

In my honest opinion, all food is “super”. Sure, some are more nutritious than others, but it also depends on your emotional state, like sometimes, a couple of oreos can make you feel “super” if a couple of oreos is what you needed. Balance and moderation.

Rant over, here’s the “superfood” recipe. Drop a rating/comment below if you make it.
Homemade “Superfood” Bowls
Equipment
- Blender
Ingredients
Blended oat layer
- 1 frozen acai pack (or ripe banana) (about 100 g) sub other frozen fruit
- 1/2 cup oats (40 g)
- 1 tbsp nut/seed butter (16 g)
- 1 serving protein powder (38 g) I use Orgain vanilla protein
- 1/2 cup nut milk (120 g) add gradually, use enough to blend, amount will vary based on your protein
Chia pudding layer
- 1/4 cup chia seeds (48 g)
- 1/2 cup nut milk (120 g)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (21 g)
Instructions
- Add all chia pudding layer ingredients to a jar, stir and refrigerate 30 min – 1 hour to thicken. You might need to stir to remove any clumps.
- Add all blended oats layer ingredients except 1/4 cup of the nut milk in a blender and blend. Use the remaining nut milk only if necessary since we want to keep it thick. Taste and add sweetener if necessary (I didn't).
- Layer in two jars, first the blended oats and then the chia pudding. Top with any toppings (see notes below for edible cookie dough recipe) and enjoy!
Notes
- 1 tbsp nut/seed butter
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/4 cup oat flour (about 30 g) –Â you might not need all of it
- 1-2 tsp mini chocolate chips
